WINEMAKING NOTES:
North Thirty-Eight Red Blend is crafted from select vineyard parcels along the rugged coastal hillsides, where cool maritime breezes temper the warmth of the afternoon sun. Hand-harvested fruit was destemmed and fermented in small lots to preserve varietal character and structure. A combination of gentle punch-downs and extended maceration extracted deep color and supple tannins. The wine was aged for 14 months in a mix of French and American oak barrels—approximately 30% new—to integrate complexity and texture while maintaining the purity of fruit. The final blend was assembled to capture the essence of the coast: bold, expressive, and elegantly untamed.
TASTING NOTES:
North Thirty-Eight Red Blend pours with brooding garnet hues, hinting at its depth and concentration. Aromas of wild blackberry, cracked black pepper, and coastal pine rise from the glass, evolving with notes of dark plum and subtle oak spice. On the palate, the wine is both rugged and refined—lush dark cherry and ripe plum are framed by earthy undertones and a whisper of dried herbs. Silky tannins and a long, savory finish give the wine structure and intrigue, while a touch of coastal salinity adds lift and freshness. A bold red with just the right amount of mystery—perfect for pairing with grilled meats, roasted vegetables, or a quiet evening by the fire.
